Add captions to your ProPresenter setup using CaptionKit displays.

This guide is for Pro Presenter versions 7, 17, 18 & 19

Set up a display and get the link

First choose between the 2 display types for showing captions in ProPresenter:

Perfect for dedicated captions or translations monitors, where scrolling captions will take up the whole screen. Use the link to help put together your full screen display link.

Single-line captions with flexible styling options, perfect for lower thirds or subtitle style. Once you set up one of these displays, copy the link for the next step.

Add the display to ProPresenter

CaptionKit uses ProPresenter's Web Fill feature, to display the live caption webpage within a presentation. This setup is quick and easy to configure and ensures that minimal changes are needed to your ProPresenter presentation.

There are 2 popular options for adding CaptionKit to Pro Presenter:

Using Pro Presenter Props (recommended)

Props allow your captions to persist across multiple slides and can be loaded / cleared separately.

  • In Pro Presenter, create a new prop and give it a label like "Captions"

  • Right click the prop and select Edit, then click the + icon in the top left of the edit page

  • Add a web fill layer, then grab the corner and resize the block to fit the full size of the slide.

  • In the right hand sidebar, paste the display link you copied earlier into the URL field, below the Web dropdown. After a moment, your caption display will load.

  • Load captions onto your current presentation by clicking the "Captions" layer

Adding to a single slide

  • In your ProPresenter presentation, create a new slide or select an existing slide to add captions to, then right click and select Edit slide

  • Click the plus button in the top left corner of the edit area, then select Web from the dropdown.

  • This will add a web fill block to your slide. Grab the corner and resize the block to fit the full size of the slide.

  • In the right hand sidebar, paste the display link you copied earlier into the URL field, below the Web dropdown. After a moment, your caption display will load.

A couple of last notes

To test a display with example test, add ?text=Your example text to the end of your display URL. This will ensure you always have test on screen to test with.

Once you're done testing, just remove everything after the ? to ensure your display shows only live caption text.
