Before you start
Follow our guide to set up the CaptionKit Bitfocus Companion module and make sure to turn on the "Signals" button inside CaptionKit.
Setting up the schedule
Once you're set up with Companion, open the Triggers page and click "Add trigger" to get started.
Set a start time
Name your trigger e.g "Sunday 10am Translations"
Click Events > Time of Day
Add your start time
Add or remove days to leave only the day(s) you want
Start the captions
Click Actions
Click the folder đď¸ icon > CaptionKit
Click Send Signal
Close the Browse Actions popup if it's still open
Click the Signal type dropdown and select "Start streaming captions"
Ending the session
There are a couple of options for ending the session, if you'd like flexibility then ending the session manually through a Companion Button, or in the CaptionKit dashboard, is our recommended option.
CaptionKit also has a Stop on Silence option, to automatically end a session after 60s of silence. This can work well if you mute all microphones or sound after the service ends.
Finally, it's also possible to create an automatic stop trigger using this same process. Just create a new trigger with your service end time and use the "Stop streaming captions" Signal type in the last step.
