CaptionKit guides and docs
CaptionKit is designed to make it simple to add live captions to your church service or event. Whether you want captions on a front of house screen, overlayed on a foyer TV or streamed to your members’ devices, there’s a way to do it.
These guides will be updated regularly, as new church setups are covered and as the CaptionKit feature set grows. As always, if you can’t find what you’re looking for here, check out our Facebook users group (opens in a new tab).
What is CaptionKit
It's a web-app that takes an audio input from your computer, runs it through a specialised speech-to-text AI process and streams the transcript.
These captions can be currently viewed in 2 ways - through the public caption page or a display page.
Public caption page
This page shows your realtime captions on a public and mobile and tablet friendly webpage. It's the easiest way to use CaptionKit and can be easily accessed by anyone in your church. It's also compatible with all smartphones and tablets with a modern web browser.
Your public caption link can be found in your CaptionKit dashboard, by clicking the 🔗 icon, then clicking "Copy captions url". You can also download an QR code for this page, in SVG format, to use on print materials on on-screen at your venue.
Display page
Along with public links for your church to view on their own devices, CaptionKit can display styled captions to use within apps like OBS, ProPresenter or EasyWorship.
Every display can be edited to update the layout, background, text size, colors and more. Displays also support transparent backgrounds, to allow for overlaying in your presentation app.
